Artist Terms
version 2026-09-20
1. About the Artist Terms
These terms apply if you claim a Name on thegig.live, or if you help run gigs or songs for a Name. They add to the Common Terms. If they differ, these terms apply to your use as an artist.
We may update these terms. When we do, the version at the top of the page changes, and we ask you to accept the new version. See section 12 of the Common Terms.
In these terms:
- Name is the address you claim, for example yourname.thegig.live, with its public page, link and QR code.
- Page is the public page at your Name.
- Owner is the person who claimed the Name.
- Member is a person the Owner invites to help run it.
- Fan is a person who sends a song request.
2. Your Name and its permanence
Choose a Name you have the right to use: your own name, your stage name, or the name of your band or act. Do not choose a Name to imitate or mislead anyone, or to hold it and sell it. Some names are reserved or not allowed. Names are given to whoever claims them first.
Each person can hold one Name. Your Name is public.
Your Name is permanent for you. You cannot change it, give it up or transfer it yourself. This keeps the link and QR code on your posters and table cards working for you and for your fans. If you need a change, for example to fix a spelling mistake, contact us. We may agree in some cases.
3. When we may revoke a Name
We may revoke a Name if:
- it imitates another person or act, or misleads people;
- it, or the Page, is abusive, hateful or illegal;
- you break these terms or the Common Terms;
- it puts people or the Service at risk; or
- the law requires it.
When a Name is revoked, its Page shows a neutral message that it is no longer active, and its link and QR code stop working. The Name is not given to anyone else, and the Owner cannot claim a different Name in its place. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, contact us and we will review it. We may restore the Name, or release it.
4. Your team
The Owner can invite Members to run gigs and songs for the Name. Members must accept the Common Terms and these Artist Terms. The Owner is responsible for what Members do for the Name, and can remove a Member at any time. A Member can leave at any time.
5. Keeping your gig listings accurate
You are responsible for the gigs you list. Give correct details, such as the place, date and time. Do not list gigs that are not real. If a gig is cancelled or changed, update or remove it. Do not use gig listings to advertise things that are not your performances.
6. Songs, music and licences
You decide which songs are open for requests, and you decide what to play. You are responsible for having the right to perform what you play.
Any licence needed to play music in public is between you, the venue and the people who own the rights. thegig.live does not give or replace those licences. thegig.live does not store or play music. It only lists song titles and artists.
7. Requests and fans' information
You choose which requests to accept or decline. We give you the tools. We do not promise that you will get any requests.
A Fan's name, song choice and note are shared with you so that you can run your show and answer the request. Use them only for that. Do not use them to contact Fans outside the Service, and do not sell or share them, unless the Fan agrees. You must treat Fans with respect.
8. The licence you grant us to show your page
You keep ownership of what you add, such as your name, description, home town, gig details, song list and any text or images.
You allow us to use these, worldwide, without charge and not exclusively, to store, copy, show and format them, so that we can run the Service and show your Page. This includes making the QR code and previews of your Page. You confirm that you have the right to give us this permission.
This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for legal or safety reasons, copies in backups until they are removed, and content others have already seen or saved.
9. Promotion and discovery
We may show your public Page and gigs in places that help people find performers on thegig.live. We may also use your Name and Page as an example of the Service, for instance in messages, on social media or on our website.
We show a quote or testimonial from you only if you give it to us and agree that we may use it. If you do not want us to promote you, tell us and we will stop within a reasonable time.
10. Verification
We may ask you to show that you are who, or what, you say you are. For example, we may ask you to confirm your email address or to link to a profile you control. If you do not, or if what you told us is false, we may limit your access or revoke your Name.
11. Plan for your show
The Service depends on phones, networks and other things we do not control. It may be slow or stop working, and a venue's internet may be poor. Always have a backup way to run your set. We are not responsible for a show that goes badly because the Service was not available.
12. Fees
Today, the features of the Service are free. We may add new features later, and some of them may need a paid subscription. We will tell you clearly before you are charged for anything, and we will not charge you unless you agree to subscribe. You can then choose whether to use that feature.
13. Account deletion and your Name
You may ask us to delete your account at any time. When your account is deleted, your Page shows a neutral message that it is no longer active, and your link and QR code stop working. Your Name is kept reserved, so that old links and QR codes never lead to someone else. Your personal data is handled as our Privacy Notice explains.
